e Northwest Folklife Festival is the annual free climactic celebration of year-round ethnic, folk, and traditional arts activities produced by Northwest Folklife. The Folklife Festival is Seattle's unofficial leap into summer, with four days of jam-packed excitement. Artists from the Pacific Northwest along with special guests from throughout the world create an ethnic extravaganza embracing music and dance performances, visual arts and folklore exhibits, hands-on ethnic children's activities, symposia, dance and music workshops, crafts, food, imported goods, demonstrations of traditional arts, and more! The exuberant tradition of sharing and participation at the Festival encourages exploration and learning between participants and public alike.

Founded in 1972 and sponsored by Northwest Folklife and Seattle Center, Folklife brings together an estimated 250,000 visitors, 1,000 volunteers and more than 7,000 musicians, dancers, tradition bearers and visual artists who contribute their time, talent, and energy.

Important! Go Green to Folklife! Ride your bike, take the bus, hop on the Monorail or simply walk to the 2008 Northwest Folklife Festival

you must take a car to the Festival, visit Spaceshare.com/folklife to find a carpool buddy and help keep vehicle traffic around Seattle Center to a minimum.

Community Networking: host travelers, meet neighbors.
Find people who love the same arts and music before the Festival starts! If you're local, consider hosting people and performers from out of town. Tips & Attractions: Downtown to Seattle Center (map of walking tour)

        Walk a few blocks from the Market(Pike Place Market,  ) to 4th and Pine. On your way up the hill, you'll pass by the Perennial Tea Room (look for Post Alley about a half block up, by Sur le Table). Go upstairs in the shopping mall to catch the monorail to Seattle Center.

        Seattle Waterfront, with the Seattle Aquarium, ferries, sightseeing boat tours, tons of coffee shops, and many seafood restaurants

        International District     Chinese Gate(西雅圖中国城華埠牌樓  )-Seattle Chinatown 

        Ride the waterfront streetcar to Pike Place Market (see related tea info above)
